Initial Consultation
Getting the most out of your initial consultation:
The more information you can send to us beforehand, the better! The following items will help us provide you with the best recommendations:
Basics: Before we do anything, we need as much basic information as possible. If possible, please email us the following information:
- Address
- APN (Accessor's Parcel Number)
- Type of property (Residential or Commercial)
- Is this a one, two or three story property?
- A description of what you wish to achieve (Ex. "Remodel the kitchen", "Build a new home", "Remove a wall between the living room and dining room", "Enclose the covered patio")
- Is this a code enforcement violation resolution?
Any of the following items will greatly assist us in evaluating your project's complexity, and give us the information to provide you with the most valuable consultation possible:
Site Plan or Survey: This document is often provided with your closing documents. It has been prepared by a surveyor, who locates your house relative to property lines and roads.
Photographs of the Exterior and Interior: Photos will help us get a better idea of what we're working with. Even if you just want to add square footage on one side of your home, we often ultimately need information about the rest of your home (even though you may think these pictures aren't necessary).
Floor plans: If you have existing floor plans from the purchase of your home, or from a previous remodel, these are extremely helpful.
What to bring to our first meeting:
Any of the above information that you were unable to email to us prior to our meeting: We need, at minimum, the basics in order to provide you with the best service. We would rather have too much information than too little.
Any thoughts you may have already had regarding your new floor plans (for a remodel): Whether you have marked up a set of your home's existing architectural plans, or if you have a new floor plan in mind that might be modified to suit your needs, let us know. We welcome hand-drawn sketches, "back of napkin" drawings, and all of your ideas!
Any thoughts you may have already had regarding the design of your new home (for new construction):
- Feel free to bring examples (photos you have taken, magazine clippings, links to pictures online) of homes that you like. We can be creative on our own, but this is YOUR house...we want you to love it!
- General parameters such as desired square footage, number of bedrooms or bathrooms, or if you prefer an open floor plan vs a traditional dining room
- Let us know your preferred architectural style!
